Among many part-time jobs, the duration of employment is different. Some jobs only lasts a day, some lasts a bit longer. Some employers will hire many people under limited employed term for seasonal event (Christmas, New Year) or any other reasons. However, usually, most employers expect employees to work for about 1 year or more.

Category of job (by duration of employment)

■Regular Baito (General job)
・Jobs you are expected to work long term.
・You will work after you agreed the date and time you work.
・If there is nothing to be mentioned about the term on job description, you are expected to work long term.
・Most employers expect employees to work more than 1 year or at least 3 months.

■Tanpatsu Baito (One time job, 1 day only job)
・Jobs you will work specific date. Normally only 1 day.
・Most cases, it will be described as "単発OK(Tanpatsu OK)" "単発バイト(Tanpatsu Baito)" at job postings.

■Tanki Baito (Short term job)
・Jobs you are expected to work specific period of time such as 1 week, 1 month or 3 months.
・Usually, those jobs are open at the time for special season or seasonal event such as Christmas or Summer Holiday.
・At job information, it will be described as "短期OK(Tanki OK)" "●カ月間の短期バイト(Tanki Baito for ●months)" "●月までの期間限定(Limited term until ● (month))".

Seasons of many job openings

・New Years Holiday(December 31 to January 3)
Due to New Year's visit to Shinto Shrine or New Year bargain sales, there are many open jobs from New Year's Eve to the beginning of the year.

・For Valentine Day (January to February 14)
Many sweet shops or manufactures will open jobs for sales staff or factory staff.

・For White Day (February to March 14)
Many sweet shops or manufactures will open jobs for sales staff or factory staff.

・Moving(March)
In Japan, many business and school start their new year from April. Therefore, demands for employees is increased on March.

・Season for Ochugen (July~September)、Oseibo (December)
Ochugen and Oseibo is Japanese custom to send a gift to people to show your appreciation for their support.
During this season, there are many open jobs for sales staff at department stores and supermarkets, delivery and logistic.

・Christmas (December)
At Christmas season, many jobs are open at factory, shops, bars, restaurants , and delivery.
